Solo Leveling Arise – Tierlist Revamp
With the addition of Workshop of Brilliant light as the game’s hardest challenge we were also given new sets and new playgrounds. This let some characters shine a lot compared to their peers, while others continued to remain dominant pick. As the overall level of investment for a character to reach their ideal breakpoints increases, we felt it was a good moment to revamp the way we present our tier list.
Moving forward, ssr characters on the tier list and weapon list will have potentially two signs: a number and $. The number will show the level of investment that we suggest for a character to be in that specific tier, the $ sign is for characters that scale hard with investment. Those characters benefit from pretty much every dupe, so they can be left in your wishlist if you wish to invest into them. We suggest for hunters that are picking up the game and progressing to spread your investments around first, so that you are better equipped to face the different modes in the game.
With that out of the bag, let’s discuss the some of the characters that received changes or are currently under the spotlight, for one reason or another.
SS Tier
When we introduced the SS tier, it was to showcase the huge gap between hunter Cha and the rest of the other characters in the S+ tier. As of now, it’s Alicia who sits on top of the food chain. Her ability to be a great damage dealer, support, cc machine on top of being the prime dps for the Workshop of Brilliant light cement her as the strongest hunter in the game right now.
Cha is unfortunately moving down to the second place in the dps list. Initially her damage was absurd and while it’s still great, players are starting to have more resources to invest in more hunters that can rival Cha or offer great utility in comparison. Additionaly, most of Cha’s damage is locked behind her ultimate, meaning that if you do not stack your Dancer properly and if you miss the ultimate her damage drops significantly. New dps like Yoo can hit hard and don’t have half the requirements Cha have, so we will monitor her performance for the time being to see if she should be moved down to S+. That being said, new content and guild bosses could skyrocket Cha to the top again, so for the time being we’ll keep her current rating.
S+ Tier
Seo remains a powerful breaker/dps hybrid that many players love using, and for a good reason! Greed set helps pushing her damage even more, and she can quickly get her stacks thanks to her skill spamming. Benefits a lot from ascensions and weapon dupes, but if you don’t want to do so Nam remains a very serviceable choice.
Min remains a staple in pretty much every team comp that is not water – and even then, you’ll often see Alicia running both Min and Meilin for maximum damage or as supports for Jinwoo. The facts he works so well at low investment makes him a strong contender for a buff to SS, but the release of more specialized support could keep him in the current tier.
Choi remains a powerful hunter that can go toe to toe with Yoo at lower investment. However, he doesn’t sinergize very well with the current core attack focused meta while Yoo thrives in that environment, so the placement of these two units will very likely change as we get some fire advantaged content and we can draw a better comparison between the two
Lee bora remains as the sole dark unit in the S+ tier. Her recent buffs made her finally viable as a damage dealer and she doubles up as a great supporter.
Yoo Soohyun is the latest addition to the roster and is currently sitting as the third best dps in the game. We are giving her a tentative S+ rating since there’s no content at the moment that requires her, but we expect her to jump to SS as soon as we do, much like Alicia did in the past.
Meilin is pretty much the best support for Alicia and every core attacker. She brings a lot of buffs that don’t overlap with Min and can stand paw to paw with him, while bringing barrier removal to help with the Vulcan fight.
Emma and Baek remains pretty much unchanged, they are a staple for breaking in their own element while contributing some good damage.
Last but not least, we are bumping Lim up to the S+ tier. He is similar to Seo as in he can deal good damage while contributing with the breaking. His breaking power is a bit lower compared to Seo, but his damage makes up for it.
S Tier
Silver Moon Baek has been bumped down to S tier for the time being. His damage remains very strong and the recent addition of the ‘curse’ debuff make him finally viable. However, the damage is based on Baek’s max HP, severely limiting the power of the debuff. We are keeping his current rating low as we test him more, but could most likely be buffed back to S+ soon.
Dongsoo and Woo remain in the S tier for the time being. Woo received a noticeable buff and is a great user of the greed set, but still doesn’t quite exactly ”pack a punch”. Meanwhile, Dongsoo suffers a similar issue as Yoo where he is missing content to trully shine. His main niche, shield breaking, was taken by the more popular Meilin and you won’t have many chances to take him out for a spin outside of wind advantaged PoD. His damage got buffed once again, so it’s likely he’ll raise in tier as we get more wind advantage content.
