Ash Echoes – Do Not Awaken Nyog Sim Raid

We’re back for another round of Sim Raids!

This one gets us to fight Nyog, the Otherworldly Creature that turned Paradise Island into a living hell before finally being pacified.

This Boss is fairly recent even on the chinese server and let me tell you, it hurts like a truck so understanding what can be ignored and what cannot is going to be key for this fight.

The Fight

  • First of all, just like Iris this is another 9.5 billion HP encounter at 300%, and 5 billion at 250%. If Iris’ HP was troublesome for you i suggest you treat Nyog’s effective HP (meaning his HP + his various DR effects/ Invulnerability effects) as slightly lower than Iris;
  • To compensate for this the boss can quite literally 1-3 shot your Tanks with its skills, and even its Basic Attacks are a threat. If you’re not playing a necromancer or speedrunning setup it’s highly advised to get reasonably high VIT and DEF, something like 1000 for both on top of a good healer in each team that can’t burst him down;
  • In the first phase, the boss is fairly lethargic and none of his attacks are frightening. don’t sleep on his Claw attacks, the 2 hit sequence can get rid of squishier Echomancers in a single combo;
  • The 2nd phase switches gear rather radically, gaining multiple new abilities. The volleys of projectiles that it sends travel fixed trajectories, so you can easily position yourself in the gaps and avoid the whole mechanic with your ranged units. Those flames travel through Barriers, so don’t think you’re safe just because you’ve got one up;
  • Still in the 2nd phase, Sissi starts sending energy to Nyog to empower it. You can simply stand in the way of the projectiles to prevent Nyog’s power up. Pro tip: Sissi’s small personal Barrier can be exploited by the player to protect your Echomancers from projectiles, so stand right next to her to stop her channeling mechanic and protect your Echomancer from Nyog’s devastating nuke;
  • Lastly, the Starfall skill is an extremely powerful attack that, after a few seconds of preparation, sends Spirit Bombs at all your Echomancers at once, leaving an area underneath them that deals high Damage periodically. Make sure to protect your Echomancers with Dome-shaped Barriers, or if you have one you can also use a projectile destroying skill. If the Bombs connect with a Barrier they deal no damage but still explode, leaving the aforementioned AoE at the point of impact. This AoE disregards Barriers and damages anything in its radius;
  • Starfall mitigated with Barriers but the AoE still spawns, do not let non tanky Echomancers stand on it
  • The 3rd phase is the most dangerous, with the Boss unleashing all of its aggression in a constant, high DPS fight. Its fast projectiles are a threat to any ranged Echomancer, so ensure to always have them stand in a barrier, ideally away from the Terminal.Crystals that can spawn a Barrier upon Destruction are summoned at fixed locations, so if you can position your long ranged Echomancers around either Sissi or the farthest Crystal. The one in the middle is a trap which we’ll get to shortly;Spawn locations of the Crystals
  • At some point the Boss starts a quickly charging rush attack, then returns to its original position with another slice and dice before finishing the sequence with a powerful dive attack around its position. try to avoid all of the attacks, each of them dealing really high damage to anyone in its path;

You can see the final AoE’s radius by the red pattern ending in front of the leftmost Crystal and between Leilani and Freda

  • It’s possible to clear the first 2 phases with a single team but it’s quite difficult and in our case required quite a few Dupes on our carries;
  • If you want to have an easier time, we recommend keeping your Corrosion Team for the 3rd phase as the Corro Blast bypasses the whole Damage reduced in melee/ranged depending on the Boss’ situation. Alternatively, a strong enough Corro team can clear 2 HP bars by itself, and even start damaging the 3rd bar.

The Teams used

Forever Cen Ying

To no one’s surprise, we’re still using and abusing the Cen Ying team’s ability to output constant DPS while remaining extremely safe with multiple layers of protections.

The build isn’t optimal as lvl90 Traces make their appearance at last, but in its current state the team was still capable of clearing the first 2 phases without a perfect rotation of skills.

Boss, Luke and Furay first > furay drops Water Zone, immediately switches out to Kylin > Boss Skill 1, Luke Skill 1, Cen Ying Skill 1, switch Boss to Boreas > Boreas Skill 1.
This will be your initial rotation with this slow and steady setup, and by the time the Terminal Skill is available both Luke, Boreas and Cen Ying should be ready to Burst.
Freda was kept to switch Boreas out once all his Skill 2 uses were spent, which in the end didn’t penalize too much our Corro Team.

Do not forget to get your Luke’s Trait Upgrade.

Corro

Not much to say here, other than the Dupes not being all too important. Most of your damage comes from the Corro Blast repeatedly shredding the Boss’ Health.
Typically Freda would be used in this team rather than Cen Ying’s but we wanted that extra bit of CDR for Cen Ying.

Changyao drops the Water Zone, tags out for Longqing who will spam Skill 1 until the end of the fight.
Yuqi is on the field from the start, triggers MVIC then swaps to Lorelle after Changyao has already swapped to Longqing.

Your Lorelle can stay in Offense Mode so long as she can withstand the Boss’ damage if your placement is good enough with the squishies.

2nd Phase ‘Third Wheel’

The Boss doesn’t get so much DR from phase 1 to 2 that it invalidates your 1st team, so in this instance your 2nd team’s strength requirement entirely depends on how much HP is left during phase 2.

A Good Fire or Water team can typically be slotted in, as those are fairly easy to build and their supports aren’t locked to the main teams. Thea and Freda would typically be used there depending on your pick.

Note that we had a hard time with Feng Necromancer setup as the low VIT/DEF lead to Su Xiao’s revive being triggered in the first couple of seconds, not giving us the time to ramp up our Inspire stacks and apply all of our Buffs/Debuffs. Nonetheless, a traditional Feng setup should be more than serviceable although the lack of Boreas could hurt its performance quite a lot.

Corro Blast Focus

This team is strong enough to take 2HP bars by itself, however it might be harder to survive the 2nd phase nukes compared to the Cen Ying team. Still, the reliance on the Corro Blast to deal most of your damage makes the run less timing intensive.

Order of units swap in is the same as in the picture, from top left to bottom right. Hassle spams his combo twice for 8 Inspire stacks then swaps with Thea, who also spams her Inspire stacking skills. If you do not have Lorelle’s Trait Upgrade, keep Begonia in until you reach 60 Armor Melt stacks then swap her out. Lastly, once Thea’s out of Skill 2 uses bring in Zodivin or another Support of your choosing, preferably with burst healing to survive the nukes long enough until you can reposition your Echomancers.

After Testing (picture shown above), we definitely advise to verify the score of the team as soon as phase 2 is done, as the damage during phase 3 is incredibly low and a waste of time.

Cen Ying finisher

Same team as the previous Cen Ying build, but without Freda since the fight doesn’t last long enough to warrant her.
