Origin 1.5 Year Stream Summary – Second Half 2024 Roadmap

The overview and explanation of the 2024 second-half updates we introduced during today’s broadcast.

New Substream – Guiding Sun

The new substream [Guiding Sun] will cover episodes that take place in the Lotus that have not been covered much in the Counterside world, except for those mentioned in parts of the World Map and Supply Operations.

Lotus is a desert region that has long been abandoned by periodic sandstorms and constant erosion swarms, making it a safe haven for criminal gangs.

When [Asha] travels to Lotus in search of her lost father, she discovers a figure sleeping in a mysterious device in the middle of the desert.

The character awakened by Asha is Counter, who has lost his memory and suffers from hallucinations and auditory hallucinations, and [Guiding Sun] tells the story of [Asha] and Counter, who have lost their memories, each of whom go to a city near Lotus that has been destroyed by a huge sandstorm in order to recover what they have lost.

We look forward to seeing new stories in new areas that haven’t been covered in Counterside so far.

The new substream [Guiding Sun] will be updated on 8/14 and 8/21 in the form of Part.1 (Act1&2) and Part.2 (Act3&4), respectively, and the Hard difficulty dungeon will be opened at the same time Parrt.2 is released.

New Awakened Employee – Aditya Surya

The new Awakened Champion [Aditya Suriya] is a Defender who takes damage from allies and increases ATK the lower the HP.

It is designed to be universally used in high-difficulty content such as PvP or Danger Close.

New SSR Employee – Anila

The new SSR Temple “Anila” is a support employee who specializes in movement control while removing buffs.

Anila can be found as a Counter Pass employee in August.

New Rearmed Employee

After a long time since the last addition of Rearmed employee, Suicide Squad Joo Shiyoung, we are excited to introduce a new Rearmed employee, [Apex Jackal: Machine Collector].

[Apex Jackal: Machine Collector] inherits the Supporter role from the original Machine Collector and possesses a reinforced skill structure providing buffs to allies and debuffs to opponents.

Similar to the original Machine Collector specializing in the Mech type, [Apex Jackal: Machine Collector] also possesses buff and debuff skills that are exclusively applied to Mech type employees, making her an essential employee in specific combat situations.

[Apex Jackal: Machine Collector] will be available after the August 14 update.

New Awakened Employees in the 2nd half of 2024

This Awakened Soldier class employee incorporates the popular Northern Archduke aesthetic found in many media today. 

As a key character in upcoming episodes, you can see the character’s illustration directly in the episodes that will be released later.

■ ???

A beloved CounterSide employee, cherished by so many CEOs, will be Awakened in the second half of 2024. 

To express our gratitude for your unwavering support, the development team is working hard to make this Awakened employee truly special. 

5th Prestige Service Skin

The 5th Prestige Service skin is designed as the opposite of the 4th Prestige Service skin, [Ecclesia – Demon Lord’s Advent], and is a skin themed around angels.

As with all Prestige skins, this 5th Prestige skin, composed of higher quality than other skins, will be updated immediately with the PV after the 4th Prestige Service which ends in late September.

New Skin – What If Story 2024

What if an employee with a certain personality is like this? Two “What If” skins will also be released in 2024.

The target temples for this 2024 [What If] skin are [Ciel] and [Ozymandias].

Main Stream EP.12

The long-awaited Main Stream EP.12 will be released in November 2024. 

In EP.11, the Administrator sought a solution to stop Thagirion and Hilde finds Paradox to recover her memories. EP.12 will be an extension of EP.11 where it will delve deeper into the Administrator’s past failures during the time of Administration Failure and the people involved in it. 

The story of the [Brothers Abandoned], first mentioned in the Substream [Carnival], will be a central plot point, revealing more about Hilde’s past and the story of the Brothers Abandoned.

New Halloween Episode

A new Halloween episode will be added, which has not been updated since the last [Great Witch’s Legacy] Substream update. 

This new Halloween episode will be added as a supplement and will have connections to the story of the newly added Awakened Soldier. 

In addition, new Halloween skins are also being prepared for this Halloween episode update.

Gauntlet Spectator Feature Addition

As promised in our Origin Anniversary broadcast, the Gauntlet spectate feature will be updated in September. 

As development is ongoing for the September update, we apologize that we cannot provide more details but the spectating lobby screen as of now.

The feature can be used as the following.

◇ Method 1

  1. A new create spectator lobby button will be added to the [Friendly Match Options Settings]. After setting up the options, you can create a spectator lobby by pressing this button.
  2. A unique spectator code will be assigned to the created spectator lobby. You can share this code with those who want to spectate through [HanaTalk] or other messaging apps.
  3. CEOs who receive the spectator code can enter the [Friendly Match] as a spectator after entering the code.

◇ Method 2

  1. Create a spectator lobby by selecting from the [Friendly Match Options Settings] and pressing the create spectator lobby button.
  2. Directly invite the opponent and spectators from the [Partner] or list of [Consortium Members].
  3. Once the opponent or spectator accepts the invitation, the opponent will be placed in the [Friendly Match] preparing for the match, and the spectators will be put into a spectator waiting status.


Once all participants are ready for the match, a dedicated target toggle button will be generated for spectators.

By clicking the target toggle button, CEOs can switch between the perspectives of each CEO. The initial perspective will be the left-side CEO’s perspective.

Spectators can leave the spectator screen at any time during the match.

We hope that this new [Friendly Match Spectator Feature] will encourage more [Friendly Matchs] among [Partners] and [Consortium Members].

Gauntlet Draft Season & Squad Tournament Global Season

■ Gauntlet Draft Season

We will be running a Gauntlet Draft Season as an event in the second half of 2024, in response to the many requests from our CEOs.

We understand that the Gauntlet Draft mode had the drawback of taking some time to start a match due to the ban and selection of employees.

Therefore, instead of fully implementing the Draft season, we will be conducting a trial run as an event to gather feedback about the experience. If the feedback is positive, we plan to incorporate additional content into the existing Draft mode.

We encourage all CEOs to participate in the Gauntlet Draft season and share your valuable feedback.

■ Squad Tournament Global Season

The development team is exploring the feasibility of conducting a unified Squad Tournament across both Korean and Global servers in the latter half of 2024, rather than operating separate tournaments for each region. 

Due to system constraints, we are considering a format where the top 16 players from each server will advance to a unified 32-player tournament, starting from the Round of 32. 

Match predictions will be available for both Korean and Global servers. 

We aim to facilitate exciting cross-server matchups between CEOs from both Korea and the Global regions as soon as possible. 

Detailed information regarding the schedule and format of the cross-server Squad Tournament will be provided in future patch notes.

New Planned Update Contents

Operator Side Skill Token

As the service progressed, the number of released operators increased, and CEOs found the need to create multiple operators for various content. Consequently, we received a great deal of feedback requesting an expansion of the operator inventory.

However, expanding all storage spaces, including operators, gears, employees, and trophies, would have resulted in a substantial increase in data communication between the game server and the client, leading to slower login times for all CEOs. 

Due to these limitations, we had to approach the request for operator inventory expansion with caution, and unfortunately, we were unable to implement it as requested. We apologize for not communicating these reasons and potential solutions in advance. 

To address this issue and provide an alternative to operator inventory expansion, we developed the [Operator Side Skill Token]. 

This is divided into two main parts: [Operator Extraction] and [Operator Side Skill Tokens].

First, a new [Operator Extraction] feature will be added. 

You can extract unused operators by going to the [Management] tab, selecting the [Operator] tab, and clicking the [Operator Extraction] button. 

During the extraction, CEOs will receive [Side Skill Tokens] corresponding to the operator’s rarity, along with obtainable items when dismissing an operator. 

To prevent accidental extractions, a pop-up window will display with the final rewards you will receive before confirming the extraction. 

The existing [Auto Select] function, which allows CEOs to select and dismiss operators of a specific rarity at once, can also be used for operator extraction.

The [Operator Side Skill Tokens] obtained from extracting operators are treated as separate resources, similar to gear enhancement modules, which do not occupy storage space. 

These tokens can be used to transfer Side Skills to other operators, and the success rate of Side Skill Transfer based on the operator’s rarity is the same as before.

We hope introducing [Operator Side Skill Tokens] will alleviate some of the inconvenience caused by limited operator space.

Max Level Expansion, Rearmament System, and Partial Growth Resource Overhaul

Max Level Expansion

As previously announced in our July Dev Notes and further detailed information in the Origin 1.5th Anniversary broadcast, we are planning to update the max level cap for employees from 110 to 120 in September. 

We believe that this increase is necessary to address the challenges presented by upcoming new content and to provide CEOs with additional opportunities to grow and achieve satisfaction through further employee development.

As the maximum level for employees increases, their abilities will be further enhanced as they level up. 

The materials required for Limit Fusion to increase the maximum level will vary depending on the level range. For limit breaking from level 100 to 110, the existing [Fusion Core] will be used as the material, just like before. However, for the Limit Fusion from level 110 to 120, a new material called [Special Fusion Core] will be required.

[Special Fusion Cores] can be crafted in the [Workshop] by combining existing [Fusion Cores]. To prevent an influx of level 120 employees from immediately impacting content balance, there will be a weekly limit on the number of [Special Fusion Cores] that can be crafted. 

The exact number of [Fusion Cores] required to craft a [Special Fusion Core], as well as the number of [Special Fusion Cores] consumed at each level beyond 110, is still being finalized. We apologize for not being able to provide more specific details at this time.

We will provide more detailed information regarding the number of [Fusion Cores] required to craft [Special Fusion Cores] and the amount of [Special Fusion Cores] needed for Limit Fusion at each level in future patch notes. 

Additionally, to accommodate the increased demand for [Fusion Cores] due to the max-level expansion, we plan to introduce a new [Fusion Core Challenge] that will provide a steady acquisition of Fusion Cores.

A new Fusion Core Challenge will be added alongside the max level expansion update in September. More details about the challenge will be provided in the upcoming patch notes.

■ Rearmament Overhaul

The [Rearmament System] allows CEOs to give their seldom used employees new abilities and bring them back into action.

However, [Rearmament Data] has been an entry barrier for new CEOs for it is difficult to get, and for CEOs who have finished rearming all their employees, it’s just taking up space in the storage as the time it takes for the new rearmed employee elongates, making this item just taking up space. 

As part of this improvement, starting in the second half of 2024, [Rearmament Data] and [Prime Rearmament Data] will be replaced entirely with [Fusion Cores] for rearmament. 

With the removal of [Rearmament Data] from the rearmament process, CEOs will no longer be able to obtain [Rearmament Data] or [Prime Rearmament Data] from the [Data Transmission Room] after the rearmament overhaul update.

In addition, we are currently preparing an event shop where CEOs can use [Rearmament Data] that is in CEOs’ storage.

With these improvements, new CEOs can more easily access the Rearmament System, while existing CEOs can utilize their unused Rearmament Data. More details will be provided in the patch notes.

■ APT Core Unification

The Counter, Soldier, and Mech [APT Cores] and [S-APT Cores], will be unified into a single [APT Core] and [S-APT Cores] respectively in the upcoming update.

There are three main types of employees in CounterSide, but the ratio of employees for each type is not equal. This has led to a situation where there is a shortage of certain types of [APT Cores] and [S-APT Cores], while others are left over.

Therefore, the development team decided to unify the [APT Cores] and [S-APT Cores] for each type into a single [APT Cores] and [S-APT Cores] to improve the current imbalanced situation.

The existing [APT Cores] and [S-APT Cores] for Counter, Soldier, and Mech will be converted into unified [APT Core] and [S-APT Cores] automatically after the update along with simulations and supply operations will now allow CEOs to get the unified [APT Cores] and [S-APT Cores].

With the APT Core Unification update, we believe the Limit Break for employees will be more straightforward.

▣ Other Content Expansion

■ Raid Difficulty Expansion

As mentioned briefly earlier in the section on the max level expansion, we will be updating the game with even more challenging content in the second half of 2024.

The first content we would like to introduce is a new raid difficulty level that surpasses the current highest difficulty level of 150, [Nightmare].

In the new [Nightmare II] difficulty level, raid bosses will have levels of 170 and 190, requiring even more preparation before attempting to clear them.

By clearing the new [Nightmare II] raid, you will be able to obtain a small amount of newly added [Prime Raid Token] in addition to the existing raid coins.

The newly added [Prime Raid Token] will be used as a new mold for creating T7 Raid Gears.

In addition to the raid difficulty expansion, we are also preparing various content expansions such as new Danger Close bosses and dive depths in the second half of 2024.

As the maximum level of employees is planned to expand, we will strive to provide continuous content expansion updates accordingly.
