Lute Review

Our most recent addition to the roster, Lute joins the group of Beast frontliners. Her power and perks change with the battlefield, transitioning from an offtank that can taunt, to a sub-DPS that can throw stun after stun to single enemies, all while buffing her teammates’ defense and crit damage.

Her skills will deal 1.5x extra damage so long as there are more allies than enemies on the field, and when there’s only one enemy left she will skip her taunt subskill making her damaging subskills cycle much faster. Unfortunately, she is still held back from doing good DPS by her long skill animations, though her damage is still respectable for a tank.

Lute’s passive causes all of her attacks to deal damage based on her Def, and adds a whopping 55% chance to deal a critical hit if there are more allies than enemies. She also buffs her teammates defense by 30% of her own defense, contributing to your party’s survivability even when she is no longer taunting.

Lastly, her artifact buffs the team critical damage depending on its ascension level, and at Legendary+ also gains an additional 15% activation rate for her critical damage passive, bringing it to 70%. Considering this is a % based effect, you could pair Jade and Lute to bring the activation rate for her passive to 100%, although this is probably not worth trading out better character options for.

Her buffing and stunning capabilities make Lute an excelent pick for raids and ESS, allowing her to chew through groggy phases and create window for bursting. Liz especially will appreciate her crit damage buff, so we can’t wait to test Lute out in raids and see where she lands.

Ratings

  • Early PVE – B
  • Late PVE – A
  • Expected Guild Raids – S/SS

As a final world of advice, Lute brings with her the Beginning of Q4. With a new angel right around the corner and a lot of fan favourite souls, make sure that you don’t end up overinvesting in Lute if you are short of pulls – if you do invest into her, however, you’ll be rewarded with a flexible soul that – while not replacing anyone in the team just by existing – will expand your options by a lot. Give the sheep soul a chance, maybe you’ll be her destined one!
